![]() ![]() In my case the issue was a bad bank 2 cat that was a combination of almost 20 years of driving with random misfires when towing a boat up local hills that resulted in the degradation of cat performance, with bank 2 pushed over the top when I, like an idiot, managed to reverse 2 plug leads and then tried to drive it to clear the miss thinking that it was due to partly fouled plugs. As Bank 1 seems to be OK, the graph for it should give you a good example of an OK chart. Bank 2 sensor 2, once the system goes into closed loop should be pretty much a straight line. Can you or have you looked at your live O2 sensor data?īasically, you should be able to look at Bank 2 sensor 1 and see the graph oscillate from high to low. based on my experience, I think the Bank 2 fail is likely related to either a bad bank 2 cat or bad bank 2 rear O2 sensor. I just went through a long period of cat related issues (that included buying a blue driver as well to help troubleshoot things). Any pointers would be great, after this I plan to install a high output oil pump, pickup and new pan before doing the cam/lifters and chain. I'm hoping there is a fault that isn't significant enough to ignite the MIL but enough to not allow the monitor to set. I've ordered new acdelco wires/plugs and up & down stream denso o2 sensors for bank 2. In Mode6 I have Catalyst Monitor Bank 1 Complete & Pass but Catalyst Monitor Bank 2 shows as test not complete. I'm focusing on the catalyst to set ready. My state will allow 1 not ready monitor to pass. I purchased a Bluedriver OBD2 tool to see Mode6 data which my old Autoxray couldn't access. The day after I got emission tested the alternator failed and I installed a new alternator and hooked the battery to a battery charger, that was 760 miles ago. 800 miles later and still I can't set them to ready. ![]() I researched and found the GM drive cycle, after doing the cycle every night after letting it sit all day I've come to the conclusion EVAP and Catalyst will never set to ready. Went for the emission/safety here and I passed safety with flying colors but failed emissions due to "not ready" monitors. I've been fixing a few issues such as the hvac sensor above driver seat, replaced the vapor canister purge solenoid which had a MIL on for. I purchased a "slightly wrecked" Yukon XL 5.3, 4x4 w/AFM with 288,000 miles, I know I'm crazy! It was super cheap and for being a Missouri truck 0% rust! I figured worse case scenario I'll drop a 5.3 into her. Greetings all, I'm new to this forum but not to working on cars. ![]()
